MGM Driving School Instructors follow the code of practice for Approved Driving Instructors set out by the Driving Standards Agency and the main bodies representing ADI’s.

Full time professional driving instructors ensure your lessons are Structured for each individual pupil depending on their progress.

 

Your driving instructor will continually assess your progress keeping a record in your progress report book. When you have reached the desired test standard your driving instructor will carry out mock tests to help you prepare for the Practical Driving Test.

 

Driving Instructor Training

In order to become a driving instructor you must qualify as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) with the Driving Standards Agency.

 

You must take and pass three exams, in order to be entered onto the Registrar of Approved Driving Instructors.

 

Have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

 

Registrar of Approved Driving Instructors was set-up in the interest of road safety in order to maintain and improve the standard of car driving instruction available for the general public.

 

ADI Test 1

Computer based theory test made up of two parts – Multiple choice and Hazard Perception. You must pass both tests in order to pass the theory test.

ADI Test 2

Test of Driving Ability – Advanced Driving Test where a very high standard of competence is required.

ADI Test 3

Instructional Ability – Test to assess the quality of instruction and ability to pass your knowledge onto pupils. The test is in two parts – you must pass both parts of the tests.

 

You must pass all three parts of the examination in the correct order and within two years of passing the theory test.

 

During your period of registration you must take a test of continued ability and fitness to give instruction (check test).

 

It is illegal for anyone to charge for instruction in driving motorcar unless their name is on the registrar of Approved Driving Instructors.
