Engine Oil Level

Open the bonnet, identify were you would check the engine oil level and tell me how you would check that the engine has sufficient oil.

Answer: Identify dipstick/oil level indicator, describe check of oil level against the min/ max marker.

Additional Notes: May be asked to check the oil level. Use cloth from car and wipes if needed. Always ensure engine is switched off and cold. Check before long journey. If oil Light on dashboard comes on stop in safe Convenient place and check oil level.



Engine Coolant

Open the bonnet, identify where you would check the engine coolant level and tell me how you would check that the engine has the correct level.

Answer: Open the bonnet and show the level of the header tank and describe how to top up to correct level when cold. May be slightly high if engine still warm.

Additional Notes: Hardly any loss as a sealed unit. Do not remove cap if engine is hot as it is under pressure. You will not be asked to remove it. Use wipe if needed afterwards.



Brake Fluid Reservoir

Open the bonnet, identify were the brake fluid reservoir is and tell me how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid.

Answer: Open the bonnet and show the level against high and low markings.

Additional Notes: Do not change yourself but take car to dealer. Open bonnet when engine switched off. You will not be asked to do anything else.


Windscreen Wash System

Show me how you would clean the windscreen using the windscreen washer and wipers.

Front Windscreen

Answer: Operate control to wash and wipe windscreen. (Turn ignition on)

Pull and hold Stalk towards steering wheel to operate.

Additional Notes: The front window wash system will remain on for as long as the stalk is held in the back position. The wiper will swipe for a few strokes, operate the windscreen wash system regularly.


Rear Windscreen

Answer: Operate control to wash and wipe windscreen. (Turn ignition on)

Push and hold stalk forwards to operate.

Additional Notes: The rear window wash system will remain on for as long as the stalk is held in the forward position. Push stalk forwards again to switch off.
